Reduced High Risk Friction for Users with FIDO Tokens or Passkeys
For those of you taking advantage of the high risk blocking features we’ve had in place for a few months, we’re rolling out a new feature that we think will reduce friction for your more security-conscious accountholders. If you hear regularly from accountholders who clear cookies or use private browsers, this may be a way you can guide them to adopt safer practices and keep your institution safe by ensuring that this healthy friction remains enabled.
Once this has rolled out, when accountholders register a new device using the same FIDO token or Passkey that they use on an existing, unblocked device, the new device will be automatically unblocked from performing high risk actions. When this occurs, an activity event is published, so you can audit effectively.
With a little of your guidance, this update can help those accountholders mentioned above to reduce their own friction by adopting these more-secure, inherently phishing-resistant methods. This feature affects all blocking modes and will begin working within the next few days. There’s no support case nor contract required.
Finally, we just want to mention that beta testing for anchor device verification is wrapping up, and that will be rolling out to everyone very soon. More to come on that!
