Mobile App UX Design Evolution

Our UX Evolution journey for iOS is nearly complete; however, we have decided to use Mobile 3.39 as an opportunity to fine-tune a large set of screens in final preparation for enabling Liquid Glass with Mobile 3.40. We want to get the remaining UX changes in your accountholders’ hands as soon as possible, so we can find and address any lingering issues ahead of Mobile 3.40. As such, please be aware that we may push additional patches to Mobile 3.39, if any tweaks prove necessary.

Editor’s note: The paragraph above was edited on Oct. 13, 2026.

Note that we also expect more meaningful UX changes for the Android app with Mobile 3.40, though we will not enable Material Design 3 quite yet.

Why are we taking a little more time? Put simply, we want to get this right. Adopting Liquid Glass and Material Design 3 is exciting modernization work, and we’d like to review the details carefully before turning on the new native design systems. Once Liquid Glass is enabled (and later, Material Design 3 for Android), we won’t be able to return to the previous design system, so a bit of extra care now is worth it. We’ll keep refining and improving the app over time, and the Liquid Glass aesthetic will be a lasting part of that.

Upcoming Minimum Supported OS Version Change

When we enable Liquid Glass (with Banno Mobile 3.40 on iOS), we will update the minimum supported OS version to iOS 26.3, which is compatible with all iPhone models that support iOS 26. This includes the iPhone 11 and newer models.

With that same Mobile 3.40 release, the minimum supported OS version for Android devices will advance to Android 11.0, which is supported across compatible Google Pixel and OEM devices. Because the Android ecosystem comprises thousands of phone models across hundreds of manufacturers, Google doesn’t publish a page listing every compatible device for Android 11.

Note: Your accountholders on older iOS and Android devices will still maintain access via mobile browsers.

As always, you can visit our Mobile UX Design Evolution page on the Knowledge Base to learn more about our plans for upcoming releases.
